UPDATE: Since I published this article the geeks at Mixcraft got their shit together and fixed Mixcraft. Mixcraft is now living up to its potential. It is now a stable and very intuitive DAW. The pro version is IMO a very good professional DAW yet it still retains an analog feel along with a workflow that is unsurpassed
- There is this notion among geeks that one should expect music software to be buggy. That's just bullshit. Geeks like bugs and they like fixing them. I suppose it gives them some sort of feeling of accomplishment that only a geek can feel. Most of us Don't want to have to fix our tools. We want them to work properly right out of the box. Mixcraft now does that. I think that I rattled their cage and perhaps now the industry will wake up and stop releasing buggy shitty fucked up DAWs. Perhaps not. But in any event Acoustica the company that make Mixcraft did that.

Maybe they should have named it MixCRASH!
I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 (64bit) and my Mixcraft 4.2 build 104 crashes every time I try to open it. What do I need to do to record again and retrieve my previous sessions? Is anyone else having this same problem? I'm using a Tascam US-144 for my audio interface.
Im having exactly the same problem. Have tried setting admin rights and running in compatibility mode with vista sp2. Mixcraft will open on second or third attempt but will crash or behave weirdly when trying to record an instrument using Tascam US-144 Mk2. Im supposing therefore that there is a conflict between the two. Any help on this would be appreciated, especially as Im on the free trial and would like to get this working so that I can purchase it.
I am currently running the TASCAM_USB2_X64_2.00 drivers with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit RC1 in vista compatability mode.
Mixcraft will start and behave with no problem as long as the TASCAM device is not connected or set to the default sound device in windows.
When I go to start mixcraft in these circumstances it will either crash straight away or come up with the fatal error message and ask if I want to revert back to the default settings. I click yes and the program will open but I am having trouble finding the correct parameters to set in
the sound device preferences
Just tried using WaveRT with a SR of 44100 and latency of 20mils however the recording is just a hiss and crashes soon after. I am assuming that I have the tascam control panel settings correct and that both these programs should run at the same time?
Just tried to start mixcraft program would not open. Disconnected Tascam and restarted program. got as far as the audio preferences and tried to change it to ASIO but program crashed again Not having much luck with this. is there a specific order I should be doing things, i.e: start mixcraft then connected US-144 Mk2 then open US-144 control panel - leave open and then go to audio preferences?
I thought mixcraft was built on a comp with windows 7 and a 64bit. I've got windows 7 with 32bit and it works amazing...fast...clean. Although my mic software does not function at all which really sucks...but that not mixcrafts fault. (YES IT IS!) I'd say you just got a bad install...ever try to record with just a simple mic in the jack and the setting set to wave?

I've just reached our final song and now I can't record another track without mixcraft freezing!
I'm not at all sure what the problem could be. If anyone can help me in finding what it could be and how to fix it that would be amazing.

I have the same problem I been producing beats and recording on mixcraft its really the easiest between all programs but I guess it cant handle more than 10 tracks...
I would suggest protools or cubase more complicated programs and require good computer with memory and speed.
