A lot of the effects are too noisy to use. Problem.... It's your computer!

Have been getting a problem with Mixcraft recently. Whenever I have more than 20 tracks my playback is reduced to a crackling, popping mess that is constantly change time... Everything mixes down fine and I can get some playback if I freeze most of the tracks. I'm not sure what the problem could be; the only thing that is consistent between all the songs I have made is the VST effect: VPS Philta and maybe some of the 'Classic Effects'. I use a lot of VSTi's in my projects however I usually always freeze them, mixdown them to audio, I always have any sort of eco mode on. My CPU is a quad core 2.3 Phenom and I have 6 gigs of RAM. My soundcard is the Presonus Direstudio Mobile and the drivers are up to date. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate X64. Any help would be appreciated.

Problem.... It's your computer! Even though your machine has pretty good specs, 20 tracks with a lot of individual instances of effects running is a lot of system load.

I have acoustica mixcraft 5 and my problem is that i have been on a song for 2 weeks , and everytime I have problems in the middle of it , wich the song start cracking up and crashes .
 Problem.... It's your computer!

Read what the Mixcraft assholes are saying about this.  The site admin said, "Do you have the latest build 130 of Mixcraft 5?" (Apparently all the Mixcrap 5 builds were even bigger pieces of shit than build 130)

I have MX 5.130. Been on a song for 2 weeks and it was fine. I am up to about 9 tracks and having regular CPU spikes and crashes. Last night when i tried to record a short vocal track, it would crash each time 5 seconds into that. I had to go to my computer with MX 4 and record it and then bring over. Today , when I listen to song CPU spikes sometimes at start, sometimes after a few minutes.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Below is a BULLSHIT registry hack for getting Mixcraft for free but it is bogus. If you are going to mess with your registry be careful. Mixcraft does not appear in your computer's registry. Deleting registry values can make your computer inoperable.

Even free and inspite of Mixcraft's ease of use and decent effects it IMO is still not worth it do to it's many bugs.

Traces of Mixcraft hide in your computer and Acoustica and God only knows what if any harm they are doing.  My guess is that they will cause other DAWs to become unstable and are loaded with spyware.

If you still want Mixcraft 6 buy it but prepared to be disappointed and frustated.  Mixcraft 6 has had many builds in an attempt to fix the many nests of bug.  Maybe Acoustica will go back to the drawing board with Mixcraft 7 and get it right the first time by actually hiring real beta testers and starting from scratch instead of nickle and diming current users with upgrades.

I have been comparing Mixcraft 5.2  Build 152 with Mixcraft 6.1 Bulid 216 and Mixcraft 5.2 seems more stable so far but it crashed and claimed that file were corrupted (lying sack of shit that it is) but when I reloaded the files it worked fine.

  2. 6.1 is better but not fixed. It's still unacceptable and the plugins are cheap sounding. Mixcraft now officially sucks less than Cubase.

  3. Just about every piece of software I've used has some stability problems. At least Acoustica (who produce Mixcraft) give by far the best customer support of any software company I have experienced, and Mixcraft is by far the easiest and most intuitive DAW I've experienced.

    1. I will admit 6.1 is an improvement and yes MixCraft is not a nightmare to learn. If they added a few more features and better mastering it could be a good pro DAW.

    2. Actually, most software, especially business and design software such ac CAD is pretty much flawless. The reasons DAWs suck is because the music industry puts up with it. DAWs will stop sucking when a few good engineers design a trouble free DAW and set an industry standard.

I have to agree with the Proud FA, 6.1 is better and overall it is better than Mixcraft 6 which should never have been released but as bad as 6 was it was still a lot better than many of the pro DAWs costing 10 times as much. Reaper is fucking joke!
