Comments about Steinberg Cubase Elements 6:

Be Warned!

To activate the program you are required to download and install a program called eLicenser. If for any reason you need to reinstall it is required that you allow unspecified access to your computer while in the process of registering at the Steinberg forums. That's a lot of hoops for such a mediocre recording program.

It's basic recording software with one decent VST reverb and various substandard effects.
Lacks industry standard hot keys and the ability to bounce two mono tracks into one stereo.
Because I can't reactivate after reformatting my hard drive the software is lost. I am going to throw the brand new program in the trash with a smile if that indicates its value.

THIS SOFTWARE IS GARBAGE

I MAY JUST BE STUPID WHEN IT COMES TO COMPUTER STUFF BUT IVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS SOFTWARE. IT WAS A HASSLE TO GET IT DOWNLOADED(IT DOESN'T GIVE VERY MUCH HELPFUL DIRECTIONS)ITS DIFFICULT TO USE, AND SINCE THIS WAS THE FIRST SOFTWARE IVE PERSONALLY BOUGHT, DIDN'T MAKE IT VERY EASY TO FIGURE OUT. NOT ONLY THAT BUT STEINBURG DOES NOT GIVE VERY GOOD TECH SUPPORT ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE JUST STARTING OUT.

regarding to INSTALLATION... if it ever works...

this is one of the dumbest programs we have seen in past 30 yrs regarding install...

so money minded, that even after doing all that merry go round with numbers upon numbers, and emails, etc etc etc in the end, upon install, it crashes.

so much for this ... nonsense. they cannot make it work from ground up,we look forward to what it might do if we ever get it up.

beware.

Great product with some fantastic plugins and thankfully it works very similar to SX3 no great learning curve there...

However, Installing and getting it operational was a nightmare
(installed on WinXP(64) the LCC software protection was shocking to install and kept crashing.

And I searched for DAYS on online forums to find info on the various errors that came up when it failed to install.

BIG RECOMMENDATION FOLKS... find ALL the necessary windows updates FIRST!!!
Esp the windows media updates.

Search the web by typing in the error code and DON'T GIVE UP.

Cubase5 is a great program and even better on a 64bit OS because of the extended memory use (in our case 8Gb)
There is No mastering suite in Cubase5... I'm still researching that.

the Steinberg Forums worked but were equally as frustrating to use because they kept on rejecting my logins..

NOT GOOD FOR A NEW CUSTOMER!!!!!!!

Let's face it DAWS suck and their developers and vendors are fucking lying arrogant assholes. The biggest problem with DAWS is how unnecessarily difficult they are to learn. This is by design. The corporate criminal fucks who sell DAWs want them difficult to use so that you won't switch once you learn one. You stick with what you know and when upgrades come out you re forced to deal with the shit they sell you.

Cubase 7 has proven to be a real piece of shit and it's users are extremely pissed at the arrogance and and flimflam they are getting from Steinberg. Read the article Cubase Sucks and it is Unstable.
